Design Tips

Before submitting your artwork, it’s important to understand how designs translate onto a wooden nickel. Because of the material, size, and printing process, certain design considerations help ensure the best possible final result. The guidelines below are meant to help you prepare artwork that prints clearly, looks professional, and stays true to your vision. If you’re unsure about any step, our design team is always happy to assist at no additional cost.

Size & Dimension

Ensure your design fits within the 1.5" (38.1 mm) diameter of the wooden nickel. Keep all essential design elements within this circular boundary.

Resolution & File Formats

Design your artwork using high-resolution images (at least 300 DPI) to ensure sharp and clear prints. We accept design files in the following formats: JPG, PNG, or PDF. We also recommend designing with CMYK color mode to ensure color accuracy.

Legibility & Contrast

Ensure text and graphics have strong contrast with the natural wood background to enhance readability and visibility.

Background/Full Bleeds

If your design extends to the edge of the wooden nickel, include a bleed area of 1/8" to ensure that no critical design elements are cut off during printing.

Text & Fonts

Use legible fonts with a minimum size of 6 points to ensure readability.

Artwork & Imagery

Include any logos, images, or illustrations you want to incorporate into the design.

Ensure that all artwork is high-resolution and doesn't appear pixelated or blurry.
